" Madam C.J. Walker"



Madam C.J. Walker (1867-1919) was an entrepreneur and a social activist. We discussed her in class and i found her story to be so interesting. Madam Walker started many beauty parlors and gave many women jobs. She invinted products for black hair and scalp.She was the FIRST black woman millionaire.She donated to schools. And after her death, she left money to charaties. She contributed A lot to Afican American Women.



“I am a woman who came from the cotton fields of the South. From there I was promoted to the washtub. From there I was promoted to the cook kitchen. And from there I promoted myself into the business of manufacturing hair goods and preparations….I have built my own factory on my own ground.” Madam Walker, National Negro Business League Convention, July 1912
